Galvanized Steel Coil

Galvanized steel coil (GI) is a flat-rolled metal sheet that has been coated with a layer of zinc through a process called galvanization. Galvanization involves immersing the steel coil in a bath of molten zinc, which creates a protective layer of zinc coating on the surface of the steel,  offering excellent corrosion resistance and durability. This coating not only protects the steel from environmental factors but also enhances its aesthetic appeal with a shiny, metallic finish.

Galvanized Steel Coil is pivotal in construction for elements like roofing and framing, and in the automotive sector for body parts and structural components. Its versatility also extends to household appliances, HVAC systems, and packaging, underpinning its broad application scope due to its strength and corrosion resistance.

GALVANZIED STEEL COIL Zinc Spangle
Spangle Type English Name Formation Mechanism Surface Characteristics Main Applications Common Grades under Relevant Standards
Large Spangle Regular / Large Spangle Relatively high lead (Pb) content in zinc bath. Slow solidification forms coarse dendritic crystals. Distinct & shiny spangles, bold grain patterns Building envelopes, pre‑painted steel substrates, general sheet‑metal work DX51D+Z, SGCC
Minimized Spangle Minimized Spangle Control cooling rate or add inhibiting elements (Sb‑antimony, Bi‑bismuth) to refine spangle grains. Fine & uniform spangles, soft luster Home appliance housings, light‑steel keels, distribution boxes DX51D+Z Minimized Spangle
Zero / Spangle‑free Zero / Spangle‑free Rapid mist‑spray cooling after galvanizing; crystal nuclei cannot grow up. Uniform surface with no visible patterns, silver‑grey matte finish Home‑appliance panels, automotive outer panels (for painting) DX52D/53D+Z, SGCC Spangle‑free
Galvannealed (GA) Galvannealed (GA) Alloy annealing at 500 °C after galvanizing; inter‑diffusion of zinc‑iron forms alloy layer. No spangle, grey‑white dull finish, matt texture Automotive structural parts, components requiring welding & painting DX51D+ZF, GA
